Can I say,

(i) The ball fell into the drain. John tried to get the ball, but it was too far (to get it) / He could not get it. He had no idea to do anything. So he decided to look for somebody for help. At the same time, a man came to help him.

(ii) The ball went rolling fast and fell into the drain.
