John put a squeeze on Mary.

Hi,

How're you getting along, my friends?

Long time no see! I've taken a long break.

I ran across the above in a film, and I'm not sure of its meaning. What possible meanings does it contain? Thanks.

Without true love, life is meaningless and worthless since our physical world is nothing but a dream. ~~Angliholic~~簡瑞達

Hi Angliholic,

Welcome back!

It is difficult to decipler the exact meaning of the sentence by itself.

The phrase 'to put a squeeze on somebody' generally means 'to try to persuade someone to do something.'

However, for two people who have a loving relationship, the term squeeze could mean a strong hug.

"put the squeeze on" is an idiom meaning put pressure on them. (with a negative conatation)

"to sqeeze someone " simply means just that Hug or squeeze with the hand.
