Hello MH,

"Jousting" is mock fighting, with swords and lances. Metaphorically, it implies "indulging in argument or repartee for its own sake".

Here, it seems to mean "I'm not in the mood for a witty exchange". (Lex's comment about the marble seems to be sarcastic.)
