How would you say this?


1 I woke him up in 10 seconds, It usually takes forever as he's a heavy sleeper. I asked him a question and he fell asleep just as quickly as he woke up.


Can you say this?


2 You did a better job of paying back your debts than I will.

I might say it this way:

He sleeps like the dead, and it usually takes forever to wake him up.  I managed to wake him up in a matter of seconds (today/this morning), but when I asked him a question, he promptly fell asleep just as quickly as he had woken up.

Yes. The sentence suggests that "you" has repaid a debt (or debts), and "I" is about to begin the process of repaying a debt (or debts).
