just as vs as soon as

 hello again! i have a new question. I was in my classroom and one of my students asked me the difference between as soon as and just as. I tried to explain but this didn't satisfied us. Could you please explain the point between these two conjunctions. Thanks for your efforts again

Hi,

I suggest you use very simple examples to explain.

'As soon as the phone rang, I picked it up'.

This means it rang and then I picked it up immediately.

'Just as the phone rang, I picked it up'.

The 2 events happened at the same time. Probably I was about to make a call when it rang.
