Just as picturesque and romantic as the scenery of Chiuffen is the story behind it.
I presume the above is a reverted sentence, but why is it qualified to be reverted and what is the purpose of this reversion?
I believe you mean 'inverted'. This is often done to add emphasis to the part that is placed at the front. It also adds some style to the sentence.
I would now expect the writer to tell the story of Chiuffen, immediately after he has mentioned that there is such a story.
