can anyone help me to answer this letter that i recived from a friend

No kids yet. My wife and I are still in DC. Life keeps us busy. She has a full time job and I travel a lot. My brother has two boys (John and Joe). He is finishing his phd now in Michigan and is working full time.

Do you plan to visit the states in the near future? It has been a while since we have seen you.

My brother told me that you are a married guy now. Do you have kids?

We are thinking to visit your country sometime this year but we do not know when, possibly towards the end of the year. I keep you posted.

Have a nice day

Do you plan to visit the States [or "the US] in the near future? It has been a while since we have seen you.

My brother told me that you are a married guy now. Do you have kids?  ok, but  I would be more likely to say, "My brother told me that  you have got married".

Have a nice day  Not the usual ending salutation in writing - used in speech.

Best wishes to you and your family. Hope to see you soon.

Are both sentences ok?

Many thanks.

Did you receive this letter and you want to respond? If so, what do you want to say?

Thank you Grammar Greek.

I have received this letter from my friend who I haven't seen for a while (almost 4 years). I want to respond to his email by using the best way of writing especially this kind of letter by using good English words.

I want to tell him that I am so happy that your brother is finishing his PhD now in Michigan I believe he deserve it.  In addition, I want to tell him that I have no plan at the moment to visit the U.S. also want to confirm that I have got married recently and have one kid ( A daughter).

Also it is nice to tell him in the email that I am looking forward in seeing him and his brother this year in my country when the date and time are confirmed.

As well as it is good to mention in the email any kind of nice words that I am miss him and his brother and they are welcome in their country.

Thanks. Waiting for your response.

Hi Tar,

I think you said it all. Why don't you write it out in letter format and we can correct it. (You may want to mention your daughter's name and birthday.)

Are both sentences correct? If so, what is the difference in meaning?

Dear Grammar Geek,

I will write it out in letter format then you can correct it. On the other hand, I would like to thank English Forum Team who gives us this vital opportunity to practice our English language. Sometimes we miss and forget some English words or grammatical principles. This opportunity prevents feigners from making mistakes in English and refreshes our language abilities. It is an opportunity for those people who wish to improve their English writing skills. It is very good idea, indeed.

Hopefully, this forum will find more support and encouragement.

As for the letter that I want to make amendments, kindly find below the letter and advise accordingly.

Dear friend,

Hope you are well and having a great summer time in Washington D.C. it is great to hear that your brother is finishing his PhD now in Michigan I believe he deserve it.

I don't have plan at the moment to visit the U.S. because I am busy with work, when I have a vacation I promise will visit you in D.C. I think it is a great place to be, especially where we spent time together in Main Street and eating a good food at the Greek and Indian restaurants. I think you remember those nice days when we went to Jorge Town University to get an access to internet before I decided to move to Michigan.

I have got married recently and have a daughter her name is Sara. She is 9 months

I am looking forward in seeing you and your brother again this year in my country, please let me know when you decide time of your trip is confirmed. Fell free to contact me when you need any thing, I would more than happy to meet you.

Best wishes to you and your family. Hope to see you soon.

Tar
