WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A LAPTOP AND A NOTEBOOK? WHICH IS BETTER FOR AN ADULT STUDENT?

I don't think there is any difference now. In the old days, people used notebook to refer to a very small computer that you can carry with you, which is even smaller than a laptop. But today laptops come in all sizes and people just use either one of them to refer to the same thing. Personally I prefer laptop so as not to confuse it with the small book for writing notes in.
