I think it is correct to use "lie" in the following sentence, but am I right?:

"He said he wanted to go and lie down"

If I am right, is the explanation then that there is not object for "lie"?

Hi Jacobsen, and welcome to English Forums.

Yes, you are right.

Lie and lay are often confused by native speakers and learners alike.

There is no object, so the verb "to lie" is the correct verb. I want to lie down.
