What is "leave of absence"? Does the person play truant? Does he not go to work without giving a reason?

Can we say "he is on a sick leave."? Thanks.

Hi,

What is "leave of absence"? Does the person play truant? Does he not go to work without giving a reason? If you are on any kind of leave, it means that you have permission or have the right to be absent from work.

Can we say "he is on sick leave."? Yes.

Best wishes, Clive
