Hello,

We say  " He looked left." Here no article before the word "left"

But "He came from the left." Here  "the" has been used  before the noun "left".

Could anybody explain it , why so?

Hi,

We say  " He looked left." Here no article before the word "left" It's because the word is an adverb in this sentence.

But "He came from the left." Here  "the" has been used  before the noun "left". Here, the word is a noun, and thus needs an article.

Best wishes, Clive

In that context, left means to his left (side) or to the left, and right means to his right (side) or to the right.

It is similar to
He went home.
Here, home means to his home.

Hello,

Thanks Sir(CJ).

1. He went to his home.

Here "home" as noun.

But when we say "He went home." Here "home" is an adverb?

Yes.  A preposition followed by its noun object (to his home) often serves the same function as an adverb (home).

Hello,

I was reading a book, that book says

1. I went home.

It says never use  " I went to home."

Is that correct?

That is correct.

Use  I went home.  Not  I went to home.

You can use I went to my home, but that is not at all what people normally say because that's what I went home already means.
