Mr. X, a former Minister for Home Affairs, suffered a severe stroke and fell on the ground last night. The prison authority immediately took him to the hospital for treatment. His family sources said the stroke left (is there any other word that can replace left to avoid another "left"?) his left side of the body paralyzed.

Mr. X, was arrested on ... on charge of corruption and has been put on trail.

Any mistakes? Please correct.

Thanks in advance

His family said the stroke has paralysed the left side of his body.

In my opinion, the two left's version is the best way to say it.
