Hi,
Can anyone check this letter for me? Don't be afraid, just be honest so then I can learn from my mistake. Thank you.

Dear Dr. Parker,
Thank you! I am truly grateful for your management during
my days at Delaware County Community College (DCCC). Although I am a
Philadelphia resident, I chose to go to DCCC for the institution's promise "to
facilitate learning by providing quality educational programs and services that
are student focused." The price was double what I would have to pay at
Allentown Community College (ACP). The traveling time was one, sometimes two
hours longer than ACP. I ran into some problems with the people at the
financial aid office, but I was happy camper. The teachers were dedicated. They
worked hard to ensure m learning was at the university level. The College even
provided me with several scholarships to ease my financial burden.
That's why when my sister asked whether she should transfer
out of Rosemont, at the risk of losing her free ride, I quickly said yes. She
was miserable at Rosemont and I'm convinced (thanks to DCCC's teachers) that
school should not be that way. So she transferred to DCCC, with my highest
recommendation. Her first year was good. Her biology teacher was so fascinating;
she came home and recited everything she learned in the class. Now, she even wants
to change her major to biology. But the passion soon died when she received her
bill for this semester. The College may have great teachers, but its financial aid
office is terrible with communication. It turned out her financial award did
not come in because she was missing a verification form. Yet, the financial
failed to send any notification about the matter. When she tried to talk to the
financial aid people, they were hostile toward her. I have had my fair share
with them during my three years at DCCC and I can verify that this is DCCC's Achilles'
heel. What make matter worst was that
the College decided to drop her classes twice, without any warning or
notification, because there were some trouble with the financial status. She
did not even have a chance to make payment in order to keep her classes. Now,
she can't reregister for any of the classes because they are full. She is still
uncertain whether or not she can go to school this semester.
As the president of DCCC, I'm sure you wouldn't want
students to turn away from DCCC's great teachers because of financial trouble,
which may not have been an issue if the financial aid office had better
communication with the student. Thus, I will make one plea. Please, for my sister,
mine, and many other students' sanity, please send out a letter or an email
allowing the students at least one week to settle the financial issue before
dropping their classes. DCCC's mission states that the "College is to
facilitate learning by providing quality educational programs and services that
are student focused, accessible, comprehensive, and flexible to meet the
educational needs of the diverse communities it serves." I hope you can
keep this promise so I can once again be proud of my alumna status and
recommend DCCC to others.
Sincerely,
