Hallo Englishforum-Team!
I've just wrote a motivation letter to a hospital in Ireland. I want to go there, because it's a very good opportunity to improve my English, but I have to write a very good and correct letter of motivation first to get an elective there.
Would you take a look and say, what I'd better change?
Thanks a lot!

Surgery is
that medical discipline, I am binding my future. I like that it requires from
one medical knowledge and applied handicraft as well. During this elective I am
eager to gain a better insight into various operation techniques and various
treatments of diseases, but , especially, a practical site of surgery – for the
surgeons required character traits, their opinion about surgical discipline – being as an observer or, if possible, by
assisting at the operations by holding the hook, for example. In order to
collect some kind of experience in this area I have started to work as the second
operation assistant in the gynaecological department whenever I find it
possible. I have attended a surgical “crash-course” to be able to make surgical
knots and also put stitches in a wound and have done some private studies on
the subject.
While
attending Riga English Grammar School I have met such authors as George Bernard
Shaw, Samuell Beckett, also Roddy Doyle. The latter could carry me away with his
novels about ordinary Irish workpeople and their sometimes witty dialogs. From
my friends as in Latvia, as in Germany I have often heard their excitement
about the beautiful Irish nature, marvellous Atlantic coastline. Free week-ends
and a week after my elective I will surely spend on travelling. The wish to
improve my knowledge of foreign people and cultures as well as my social skills
and my foreign languages urged me to apply for the elective in Ireland.
It is of
great importance to me to experience the way you treat patients and how
different experts, nurses and physicians cooperate in order to heal. By
comparison I will have then a better view on the situation in Germany. A small
fact, that the pathological department, where I am working on my doctoral
thesis, is chaired of Univ.-Prof. ... from Ireland in a way
inclined my choice towards Ireland, and not Malta, and shows also the high
quality of Irish medical education.
I am
friendly, hard working, highly motivated and enjoy working as a part of a team.
I like the challenge of new situations and cope stressful situations well.
I would be
very grateful if you volunteer me in the Surgery department.
With kind
regards,
