Newspapers are getting the life sucked out of them..
There, I said it. Rupert Murdock turned the thick ail of the wall street journal into light beer.
Sam Zell is basterdizing tribune companies dailies with a news to advertising ratios of one to one.
Even the news …… over the McClatchy company are getting expenses and everyone get laid off.
**I’m not gonna do what you all think I’m gonna do which is just ……. ??
All these massive overhauls are attempts to save the newspaper’s business, but is it worth saving?
Forget the memories of dad nose in the sport section of breakfast or the crazy heavy newspaper recycling bin, add Dollars are disappearing.
Last years newspapers print ad revenue experience one year drop in more than 50 years.
Craig less kills the classifieds and even online ads are slowing for these guys.
Print paper circulation will drop to the lowest level since 1946 and news print could increase 20% per ton in the second half of this year, meanwhile journalists fighting for their lives and papers are becoming more user friendly that means we get charts and graphs and pretty colors.
*we got graphics on the wall but, it’s too much*
Some people think fish rap can survive by going local which would put papers back where they started. Now that worked for radio and clear channel until technology came and killed terrestrial radio which exactly what’s happening with newspapers right now. So is the tree killing dollar hammerging newspaper business worth saving? Business survey says no and as far as nostalgia goes these new improved dailies aren’t gonna look anything like your daddy’s paper, I mean who wants the new your times if it reads like usa today? that’s where things are heading, and maybe it’ll improve financials in the short term but pretty soon all those pretty die hard newspaper obsessives will get fed up and circulation will go right back down. *Blood pressure*I’m afraid I’m gonna have to call this one, boys. She’s dead. But don’t worry this doesn’t mean the end of journalism; you just have to go with the internet flow I mean people used to rely on pamphlets for their news. Nowadays the pamphlets industry isn’t exactly thriving but we still have good reporting in the world.
