Some websites have different versions tailored for the needs of different people, e.g. text version, low graphics version, accessibility version, mobile version etc.

I am thinking of creating a version of a website that is at the same time optimised for the blind (high accessibility) and also for mobile devices.  I am thinking of a name for it.  Do you think "lite version" is a good choice?

At first, I think "lite" is quite good, but I found from the Oxford Advanced Learner that the word "lite" is disapproving:

2(used after a noun) (disapproving) used to say that a thing is similar to sth else but lacks many of its serious or important qualities:
I would describe this movie as ‘Hitchcock lite’.

Do you really feel that "lite" used in this sense is disapproving?

Not disapproving, but perhaps misleading.  It does suggest that much is missed from the full version.  How about something more optimistic, like 'custom version'?

Thanks, Mister Micawber.  Well then, you would perceive the word 'lite' as suggesting it is LESS than the full version.

The version I am talking about is simpler in style with optional graphics (click on demand), but it contains all the contents in the full version.  It would also be able to fit into smaller screens without horizontal scrolling on mobile phones.  I worried that 'custom' could mean anything and might not be able to tell the users whom it is customised for.

Another option I am thinking of is 'plain version'.  What do you think?

Again, 'plain' might suggest less.  In addition, 'plain' says no more than 'lite' or 'custom' do about the users or the precise nature of the version.

You needn't take my suggestions, and I am not going to argue them; I couldn't care less about your business, since I hold no shares in it.  I am simply here to tell you that, when speaking of products & services, words like 'plain' and 'lite' are usually rather negative, while words like 'customized' or 'special' are rather positive.

Thank you very much indeed for your advice.  This is exactly what I need -- the feelings and perceptions associated with a word when applied to a service.

Sorry that I might have unintentionally worded my last posting in a not so positive way.  I am not a native speaker and I might have said something inappropriately without realizing it. I hope you don't mind.  You are always a great help to me.
