What about thisBig Smile [:D] :

Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwe-nuakit

It is part of the name of a hill in New Zealand since the other part is with a space so I don't think it really counts:

Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwe-nuakit natahu, a New Zealand hill.

I just typed that word on my instant messaging program (its called trillian) and there is a voice that reads what is typed, and it took like 2 minutes for her to say the whole thing. It was really funny! But even the computer took like 3 breaths!

I am sorry to break it to you but this isn't a word. By reading all the other e-mails the diease one is the longest word. But is this really 297 acids combined? The reason I ask is there are a lot of "lalany" words. Coincidence? I think not! Wink [;)]
By the way I am not having a go at u.

hi there
the longest real word according to the guinness book of world records is floccinaucinihilipilification and the longest made up word is pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconosis this is the longest word in the dictonary. It is infact possible to have a longer word but this includes hypens(-) or spaces (not to sure how it is a word then but that dont matter)
Electroencephalograhpicly is the longest without spaces or (-) this means that that deletes the other words
i am enlish and i dont even know howmy own language works
STRANGE:)

Krungthepmahanakornamornratanakosinmahintarayutthayamahadilokphopnopparatrajathaniburiromudomrajaniwesmahasatharnamornphimarnavatarnsathitsakkattiyavisanukamprasit

in Thailand which is a whopping 163 characters long so long that it doesn't even fit on one line! However whilst the New Zealand place name is recognised by the Guiness Book of Record, the Thailand name is not.

I once heard a word by the name of "fluvialgeomorphologicaldendrochronology" 39 letters

which, if i remember correctly, is the study of petrified trees at the bottom of dried up bodies of water.
