I am an ESL teacher who has taught in many countries. I have always told my students that the longest word in the English Language is "antidisestablishmentarianism," which has to do with the idea of the separation of church and state in government. But I may have been mistaken. Thank you for some new teaching ideas for vocabulary.

I was told in high school, by an english teacher that the longest word in the english dictionary is, if I can spell it correctly: antidisestablishmententarism. I've seen it once in an older dictionary, but can't recall the definition of the word. I've tried looking up the word in the online dictionaries, but can't seen to find it, probably because I have it misspelled.

Actually the longest word in the world is "Antidisestablishmentarienism". This word practically means those who are against the destruction of things. Kinda stupid but long.

You know that DNA would be the longest right? If it was laid out, it would have over 1,000,000,000 letters. For example, AATTGCGAATCGAGCTAGCTATCCGATCAACGGGATCGAGA. (not based on a real strand of DNA)

If you have taken Biology, or in Biology, you would understand this.

Antidisestablishmentarianism is the opposition of those who oppose the link between church and state.
You would hardly use Floccinaucinihilipilification in every every day life, you would just call something worthless.
