The Longest Word in the english language is really long. LIKE A THOUSAND!! But the longest word I know is "Pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis". Say THAT ten times fast!!

The longest word in the English language is definitely pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis (the miner's lung disease contracted by inhaling microscopic particles of silicom). It is a medical term - and usually these aren't counted, but pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis was admitted to the Chambers 20th Century dictionary in order to stop the confusion surrounding hippopotomonstrososesquipedalian (i.e. very long) words (there was debate about floccinochinihilipilification, antidisestablishmentarianism, honourificabilititudinitartibus, etc...) It's also listed by the Guinness Book of Records as the longest English word. All these thousand+ letter words don't count, because they're specialised scientific terms.
