Hello, everyone. It's been a long time since I last posted here

. My poem "This Child" stole me a spot from Poetry.com's "Best Poems and Poets of 2003!" I just thought I should mention that

cuz now it feels good, especially knowing that there is only 200 or 201 chosen. I have to submit them a new poem to have a shot at their prize money. Honestly though, I don't know how they have chosen "This Child" cuz the message is hackneyed and the wording isn't that all intellectually sound. Anyhoo, here's the poem I made:
Lost and Found
Laughter that meshes and dances
With neon lights and infrequent car blares,
Erupting from cliques on plaza benches
Where silly happiness keenly stares
At the oblivious eyes of these strangers.
Seconds, minutes, hours, and finally
Laughter fades away from all directions.
Parting ways to end the night to free
The bond so
friendly and full of notions,
And cuddle in bed as foreshadowed by yawns.
The tables alone and the vicinity deserted
Except for a man who reveals confused sadness
Recalling the merry details of time just fled.
Time so
friendly and
trite, joyful—no more, no less,
But
friendly details elude. Taken for granted, just a guess.
Brimming with forlornness, his eyes lost indulgence.
Struggling to seek bygone happiness, he’s lost.
Reclusive wandering in a desert devoid of sense,
A thief steals him from his dream, a world just crossed.
In his wake, both sob, but with thief tearing the most.
He learns: There is a mirror, it is a world
Where joy is found in grieving tears not in smiles;
To find beauty in the naïve and unrhymed melody;
It is a pasture where something is
friendly, yet
true.
