could somebody pls tell me the meaning of this sentence? I cant quite get the second part.

In Japan , where only seven of the nation's 1,257 detention centers have any female guards, there have been reports of women being strip searched even for traffic offences.

In japan there are seven centres with female guards.

Trafficing means, IMO, the passing of drugs in a disguised manner on to the prisoners.

strip searching means they ask you to take off your clothes so as to see if you have any illegal chemicals about your person

Hi Katarinka

The meaning of 'traffic offence' is usually something that you do wrong while driving your car.  This is the meaning I'd understand in your sentence -- especially in view of the use of the word 'even', which indicates a minor offence.  Traffic offences can range from minor to very serious.

'Drug trafficking' is something completely different and would generally be much more serious.  The use of the word 'even' doesn't make any sense to me if 'drug trafficking' is in fact what is meant.

Hi,

Simply put, male Japanese prison guards like to make women take their clothes off.

Best wishes, Clive
