Hi,

I want to say that I couldnt recognize my father...Does this sentence convey the meaning, and is it grammaticaly right or not????

My father was mistaken for his colleague...

This is grammatically correct. However, you didn't mention that the mistake was made by you. In addition, passive voice is not a good choice here. It's much clearer and more direct to say

I mistook my father for his colleague...

Best wishes, Clive

Passive voice is not used when it is important to mention who did the action.
