What is the difference in meaning for the following sentences in pairs?

 

"Bill argued that Bill is innocent."

"Bill argued that Bill was innocent."

 

"Bill stated that Bill is innocent."

"Bill stated that Bill was innocent."

 

"Bill indicated that Bill is innocent."

"Bill indicated that Bill was innocent."

"Bill argued/stated/indicated/protested that he was innocent."--The jury may or may not have already rendered its verdict.
