Fortunately, this was solved by the help of another native.First it seems hard but after knowing what is said it appears easy.

It was as simple as the boss said, the lion from Warsaw was better than in Warsaw.

Still,I'm not sure about the lion.I somehow hear an ing in that part.

Hi Coloraday

I don't hear the word "lion". I hear the word "line".

But what does it mean "the line from Warsaw is better than in Warsaw."?In the film he says this in front of a telephone booth.

Thanks

Ah, then it's definitely the phone line, the connection.

And now that I've listened to it again, I can hear "line" too. And I didn't hear "It was as simple as..." because the final part of "simple" sounds kind of whispered to me, compared to the rest of the sentence. And that "was" sounds like "vas" to me thoguh... maybe it's still because of the actor's Polish accent.

Try to listen more carefully.I can clearly hear 'simple'.

Yeah, I was able to hear it, but the intonation pattern made the last syllable sound like whispered to me. By the way, was the intonation pattern in that sentence... natural?

I also interpreted the word "line" to be a reference to the quality of a telephone connection (i.e. a call from Warsaw to a place outside Warsaw vs a call from one place in Warsaw to another place in Warsaw). I also hear "It was as simple as the boss said..."

The intonation seems OK to me. It seems to me he stresses the word "in" simply to highlight the difference (from vs in). Is that what you were wondering about, Kooyeen?
