Hello,

I'm trying to apply to a famouse institution to student exchange (1 smester) and to write a motivation letter. I have never written any letter like this before, in no language. I would appreciate it a lot if you could tell me your opinion about what I wrote, wether on the grammer side or generally what should be in such letters.

Here goes:

Dear Sir or Madam,

Greetings,

My name is Keren W.. I'm currently a sophomore within the Industrial Design department at the Y in Y country.

I am writing to apply for the students exchange program in the X, which appealed to me since I started researching for exchange programs. Visiting the X’s site, I have learnt that is it known for its relationship with real companies and industries which gives the student an opportunity at experimenting real life projects. Coming from Y country, which is still a young country with a new heritage of visual communication, it is very important for me to visit and study in a place which is just the opposite – a place with a rich history of visual culture of art and design. Considering that, Italy was immediately my first choice. Since my internship is in design, [X city] would be the obvious choice for a place to study in Italy, being so famous for its design culture. My aim to learn in a prestigious academic institute in my internship area drew me into the X. Researching your web site I’ve found about the broad specializations in design-related topics, covering helpful and important fields of understanding the culture and society under which the design process is taking place.

I have also read information about the university's master degree programs (that are a direct continues of the bachelors programs). I am interested in studying a masters degree to profound my knowledge and therefore would love to explore this program in the X.

Exploring details about the university’s Erasmus program, I know that there are many talented people from around the world who study and create in an open multicultural atmosphere. Being a part of it would be a great honor for me and I believe I can contribute my small share of knowledge and cultural experience.

I would be delighted in being a part of the university's activities of the fall semester of 2008.

Sincerely,

Keren W.

Thank you in advance :))

Keren
