Hi,
It's best if you try to draft something yourself, and then post it here so that we can help you with it.
Writing letters is something a senior manager has to do every day, so it's good to practice.

Best wishes, Clive

Clive, I still don't understand why so many people call what I think is cover letter a motivation letter. What do you understand of motivation letter? It sounds like a written statement of a motivation talk, which is difficult to do without gestures and facial expressions.

Hi N2G,

To me, a motivation letter is one that you often have to write when applying to a University, especially for postgraduate courses (MSc/MA/PhD etc.).
It should mention why you are interested in a certain course/research topic, explain why you are a good candidate and why you should be chosen, and point out what the benefits for your future career are.

It's a bit like advertising yourself! Wink

Hi,
I undertand 'cover letter' and 'motivation letter' as two different things, as follows.

A cover letter accompanies a resume, and is usually related to an employment application.
A motivation letter is a term I only encountered on this Forum. I understand it to relate to a university application, and to be a statement of why you want to take this particular course at this particular institution.

Best wishes, Clive
