Hello, I'm consider studying fine Art and philosophy in GB this year and would be grateful if someone could help me with my motivation letter. Here it is:
Dear Sir or Madam
I am writing to apply for the position of studying at your University and would be grateful if you consider my application.
I am eighteen-year old now and I am finishing Klaipėda Eduardas Balsys gymnasium of Arts this year. I have been studying at this school for twelve years. I was studying piano for first four years and later I decided to take a place in fine Art class. There I got a strong background of drawing, skeching, sculpture, painting and other disciplines. As a main discipline I prefer painting, because I have a good understanding of colour, line and composition. Besides, painting for me is the best way to express my world-view and to give a form for my ideas. Furthermore, I feel that painting has become for me a way of life and that it is a more than just a career
I can insure you that I am creative, open thinking person and at the same time responsible and hardworking student. I also have good comunication skills, thus I am able to share my ideas and viewpoints with other persons. I was always successfull working in vorious Art projects with my colegues, however, I also can work on my own.
I have some work experience too. I had done a few comissions for people who asked me to paint their portraits and I also done a few fresques in appartaments of people and in a couple of pubs.
My other interest is philosophy and literature. I periodically publish my poems and essays in Lithuanian literature journals. I had also won first place in writting contest in 2008 th for my essay and was awarded with trip around the Europe. Furthermore, reacently I took a part in the most prestigeous Lithuanian students contest of literature that is being organised by Lithuanian writers union and will be held in the end of March.
Studying at your University would be a great oportunity for me to develop myself as an artist because of your expierenced teachers and attractive studying programe. Aditionaly, it would be a chance to know a culture of GB. Besides, this is a country that has a good tradition of painting and there was born two of my favourite painters: Francis Bacon and Lucian Freud.
I think that my skills that I have gained in all those years will suit the curicullum that is being taught in your University and I'm ready to work hard and to get the most of the education you are going to give to me. I hope you will consider my application. I am looking forward to hear from you as soon as posible.
Yours faithfully,
Jurgis Viningas
