In First Language School I learned to approach problems after considering many points of view. I realized that my opinion may not always be the best and being able to work in a team is very important in order to be successful. In my view these qualities are essential for the major I have chosen. Advertising nowadays is bound up with almost every part of people’s life. It is the connection between media, trade and business. The job of the advertising specialist demands not only creativity of thinking but also self-confidence, flexibility and knowledge of human’s psychology. The most intriguing part of this profession is the way in which a simple product is made widely known by a short video or even a few words. To study advertising would be a great challenge for me as well as an incredible opportunity to demonstrate my skills and to obtain lots of new.
Unquestionably, advertising is one of the most rapidly progressing industries nowadays. However, in my country it still has not reached the level it should. When watching advertisements on the television it is impossible not to make the difference between these made by large companies in countries like USA or Great Britain and these made in Bulgaria. Тhis huge difference is due to the low quality of the most advertising firms in my country – a result of the lack of popularity of advertising as a course of study. Almost no university in Bulgaria offers Advertising as a major and thus the agencies are forced to hire unqualified personnel. My huge interest in this sphere made me search for the best place to get an appropriate education. That is why I fixed on your university. It offers not only the opportunity to become a good specialist but also to exchange experience with a lot of different people. My greatest aim is one day to improve the quality of Bulgarian advertising and to make it equal to this in the bigger countries.
In high school, my favorite part of studying process has always been the project-making. It is extremely important for the students to find their own manner to understand the lesson other than learning it by heart. Since almost every project demands a team work it is a great way for the students to learn how to cooperate. The most important ability in the making of a project is creative thinking or to find the most interesting way to express your idea. I've learned that the delivery and presentation of the project is often more important than the project itself. This in my opinion is the main philosophy of the advertising too – to present the product in such way that will make it most attractive to the audience.
Parallel to my studies, I've also been involved in many extracurricular activities. The one I am most passionate about is music and in particular singing. My school is the place where I am able to show my singing skills. Traditionally, every year there are several festivals in which talented students can display their abilities. In these festivals I take part not only as a performer but also as an organizer – I assist in the making of the decoration, writing of the scenery and last but not least – presenting the concert to my school-mates by making posters and advertising brochures.
In conclusion, it is my firm belief that in this university I can obtain the skills necessary to change the aspect of the advertising in my country. Undoubtedly, it is the best place to pursue my dream.
