Hello, teachers!

Can we use 'much' in this sentence?
- He has [much, a lot of] experience with this kind of situation.

Thank you very much.

Hello Jandi

I have been waiting for some moderator to answer. But still nobody has answered.
So please allow me to try to answer though I think as an English learner I'm less advanced than you.

The answer is: you'd better use 'a lot of experience' in this case.
'Much of experience' is used in negative sentences and questions.

How much of experience do you have with it?
We don't have much of experience with it.
We have a lot of experience with it.

In Japan today even dogs are learning how to bow-wow in English.

'Much [of] experience' is used in negative sentences and questions.

1. How much [of] experience do you have with it?
2. We don't have much [of] experience with it.
3. We have a lot of experience with it.

No 'of' with 'much', Paco.

'much' is certainly not wrong, it's just overly formal for many situations. There is a thread very close to this one in the list that is on the same topic. The name eludes me right now.

Thank you very much, Paco.

Wow. I'm flattering!
I'm trying to be fluent like you, but I still have a long way to go.
Being like you in the near future is one of my aims.

As for my question, I've thought that as you say, but a native told me it's possible though uncommon, which made me confused. so I'm double checking.

Thanks for confirming it.
Have a nice day.

Hello JTT and Jandi

No 'of' with 'much', Paco.

Ugh! I must have been crazy!

Thank you JTT for the correction,
And sorry Jandi for my mistake.
