does it make sense>?sound odd?

for example,A had a mind to  help B with his homework.but it turned out

that A know nothing about B's major,so A feel so sorry and said to B  "I can't help you ,and my ability fails my heart?"

It even sounds odd to me,any one can help?

I would say, "I cannot help you, for my ability fails my heart."

metaphors fall flat when used with common speech.

Consider: "Ima gonna shoot fer prez-ee-dent, cuz a man's reach should exceed his grasp."

Hmm.
