when is it appropriate to use "myself" instead of "me"? ex: "I can help myself"...."Will you help me/myself?" I think myself sounds retarded anytime anyone uses it in a group of three ("all three of us went to the store: Mary, Chelsea, and myself.") So are there rules? In my opinion, it should only be used when I'm talking about myself and I'm the only one in the sentence, does that make sense?

In your example, what would you use? Personally, I ,myself, like it as it is, but I,
as if you were to reverse the clauses, does work better
to wit: "Biff, Eddie, and I went to the squash tournament to pick up chicks"

Counterexample: I told John too much about myself.
(I'm not the only one in the sentence (John is there, too), but "myself" is correct here as well.)
Counterexample: There wasn't a lot left for me.
(I'm the only one in the sentence -- unless you count "lot" -- but "myself" is incorrect here.)

Try again with your rule! Smile [:)]
