There are three main systems of Astrolgy - Chinese, Indian and Western. They are mutually inconsistent and so cannot all be true. In fact they are all unlikely to be true. Why should the whole of one's life be depend on when you were born? Do two people born at the same moment follow the same path in life? The stars and the planets are so far away that they cannot possibly have a discernible effect on individual human beings. If they did, then as a matter of physics we would be affected by all the objects around us.
It also seems highly unlikely that the future can be predicted by consulting Tarot cards. Predictions are often vague. The classic one is "I see you crossing water." Nevertheless, consulting a fortune teller (of whatever kind) when you have a difficult decision to make can be of psycholgical benefit to some people. It can help you to unconsciously reach the decision that may be best. Of course it can make the decision for you and give you an excuse if things go wrong. In practice when making difficult decisions we do not usually have all the information we need. Whether we like it or not, we have to rely on our intuition. Fortune telling ceremonies can unlock the intuitive faculty. Even people who do not believe in fortune telling will discuss important decisions with friends, family or advisers. A chat over a cup of tea is as much a ceremony as shaking sticks out of a container in a temple.
Ouija boards are very interesting. If there is an explanation of why the glass moves about I do not know what it is, but I do not believe it is the spirits of the dead. I have always felt that if the dead were meant to communicate with us it would be lot easier and that they would make a lot more sense than some of the information that comes through on ouija boards. If the dead take the trouble to attend when ouija boards are in use (and how would they know at such short notice?) they would surely come across with a clear message. However, clearly something is happening. I hesitate to speculate further.
There are a lot of charlatans about and a lot of gullible people, but many people who practise astrology, fortune telling and spiritualism sincerely believe in it. To characterise everyone who does as a swindler would be like the adherent of one religion insisting that the priests of all other religions are insincere and only in it for the money.
