As a non native-speaker I have some problems writing my cover letter to a Canadian company. I would be very thankful if you could have a look at this:
Dear Mr _________
I would like to apply for the HR internship that you recently advertised on ________. I first became interested in HR through a two year commercial apprenticeship at_______. During this period I was able to gain deep insights in all functional areas (including HR) of an industrial firm, learned how to work independently and responsibly and got very familiar with the whole MS Office package.
Since October 2002 I am studying for my Diploma in Business Administration with Human Resources, Business Management and Management Psychology as my majors at the University_____. After having passed my Intermediate Examination in 2004 I took part in an exchange program and studied for one semester at the_______School of Management in ____ where I experienced different customs and cultures. To finish my studies I am going to write my final thesis in Management Psychology from April to August 2007. Before I start my professional career in my country I would like to apply my theoretical knowledge in practice within the scope of a stay in your company.
In addition to my studies I also gained further practical HR experience. During an internship with _________ I assisted in the daily work, recruiting and training’s feedback evaluation. My responsibility included among other things the communication with the candidates, the planning of the interviews, the conduction of parts of the interviews and the planning of the initial skill adaptation training of new employees.
Within my work for (name of student organization) I am member of a team which is responsible for the recruiting and preparation of the outgoing interns.
I am very interested in doing a four to five-month internship at ______ starting in September 2007. In your large and international-active company and the offered internship I see the possibility of combining the appliance and enrichment of my theoretical and practical knowledge with new cultural experiences. Especially the work in “Compensation & Benefits” is of interest for me as it offers the opportunity to apply not only my knowledge of HR but also of Accounting. After my stay at various companies I am now very keen on broadening my work experience in Canada to get to know the Canadian culture, the working life and the way of life. An internship in your company would represent a special challenge for me.
Being a reliable team player I am motivated and willing to contribute to your success. Besides speaking English fluently I am native speaker of German and have very good knowledge of French.
For further information please feel free to contact me at anytime. I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
___________
