I think it means that the closest he got to goin fishing in the dream was up to that point, then he was awoken by the guy

I also need help in finding the name of a country song. It is about a guy waiting for a girl to call. He leaves a outgoing message on his anwsering machine for her. Saying where he would be each day of the week. I believe he refers to the girl by the name of a city. Any ideas?
