HI,

I want to know more ways of greeting people in daily life.
Mostly time when I meet to a person, I say following:

Hi or Hello or Good morning or evening
and How are you?

please help me to learn more ways.

Thanks.

These are the first things I might say when I meet someone:

Normal or formal:
Hello
Good morning

Informal:
Morning (you leave out "good")
Hi
Hi there
Hey
Hey there
What's up?
(Rather slangy)

Old fashioned:
Howdy

Like, toooootal slang:
Yo

That's just my set of greetings. There's got to be a lot more, so wait for someone else... Smile

That's pretty comprehensive.

I do say "Howdy" but I'm kind of goofy, I guess.

I say "hey" too much. It's a bit too informaal for some settings.

Hi, Margaret, nice to see you. Hi Peter, how's it going?

Hi,

There's also "hiya" ... very informal and used among young people in the UK.

Hi,

Thanks for help:)

I never understand this word "howdy". Is it same as hi or something else?

HI Tanit,

How do you pronounce this word "hiya".

Thanks:)

Hi Ra,

Try this.

HI Grammar Geek,

Thanks for help:)

I have one more question. When we should say or what is mean by  "how do you do"?
Grammar Geek, 305 days ago
I think I've gone my entire life without uttering that phrase. It would be used the first time you are introduced to someone. I just say "Nice to meet you." It sounds very old fashioned to me, but perhaps it is still used in the UK or elsewhere.
