I sought to hear the voice of God,

And climbed the top most steeple.

But God declared: "Go down again,

I dwell among the people."

Please anyone tell me what is the message of this poem?

Thanks.

Sometimes when we want an answer or a proof we look for it in other places as if it was far away but we can't see that the answer is just in front ot our eyes.

The person looked for God in the remotest place, but God is found amongst people, not in empty spaces.

This was written by Cardinal Newman, a great Christian thinker, and is his expression of the belief that true faith and religion is part of humanity and not separate from it.

Thanks for your reply.

If I say, God is everywhere. Do you agree that it is the message of the poem?
