The noun phrase is a group of words that ends with a noun. It can contains determiners (the, a, this....), adjective, adverbs and nouns. It cannot begin with preposition. For example
" a beautiful metal table" is a noun phrase.
I guess since a noun phrase could include an adjective, the comparison does not make any sense.
