Someone tells me that it's impolite to say "Oh my God." The polite alternative is "Oh my goodness." Do you agree?

I think that few people today would object to "Oh, my God".  Their sensitivities should be considered, however.

I agree to some extent.  I've noticed that Oh my God is avoided on television, for example, and Oh my goodness or Oh my gosh is almost always used instead.  Oh my God is perfectly fine among friends who don't object to it, of course.

A number of years ago I was on a cruise to Alaska, and we went into Glacier Bay.  As 1200 people stood watching, when the glacier calved, it was "Oh, my God".  As a choir director, I couldn't have directed it much more perfectly.  I began to wonder if that was "the origin of the phrase".
