I go to nice restaurant with a friend from Brazil. I park my car in the neighborhood. After dinner, I plan to drive my friend home. But disaster's just happened.

"Oh, no! My car has disappeared."
"Oh, no! My car disappeared."

Which one is more common in that situation? I'd say the second one but my answer book doesn't say so.

I think the natural exclamation would be 'Oh no! My car's disappeared!" 'My car disappeared' would be more what I would say when I was telling the story to someone the next day.

Actually this happened to me in real life. Nice restaurant, nice meal, off we go, oh no! My car's been stolen from the car park! Panic! Oh look, there's another virtually identical car park just over the road....

Hi, Nona,

I'm sorry to hear that. And then?????

BTW, were you telling me a story? If then, why wouldn't you use the simple past? I hope this won't give you the headache.
