In a medium such as the table, can I omit the article (a, the) for short descriptions? (Especially if an article, if used, would be the first thing in the description sentence)

 Example:

name        description

IpAddr       (the) IP address of the server

port           (the) port of the server

custName  (a, the?) customer's name

Additionally, can I use 'the' for the custName description, if I don't have a specific customer in mind, but just that it's some customer (to the store I have in mind)?

Also, can I omit the articles even if they don't come first in the descriptions?

 Thanks.

It's informal, but common and acceptable. The 'the' is optional too.
