Why don't you try using them in sentences?  I think that would help you understand the difference.


For example, what sorts of things could you put in the blanks here?

Apparently, with a negation.  What about with an affirmative like always instead of never?  Any ideas?

Switching them to affirmatives will still make the sentences mean the same thing.  Right?

Yes, well English is my first language and I was taught grammar in school but I never excelled in school so that's probably the cause of these questions.
