Memory is essential to all learning, because it lets us to store and retrieve the information that we learn. Memory is basically nothing more than the record left by a learning process. Learners have prior knowledge which save in long term memory  that affect new learning  by connection the idea or build new knowledge. Those affected by four process; schema, scripts, concepts and theories. In learning, there are strategies to be effective and retain information in a long term memory. Learning strategies means that “intentional use of  one or more cognitive process for a particular learning task”. As learner need effective strategies, children also need some of strategies (effective) to help them in their learning. One of them is organization that “learners find connection among various pieces of information they need to learn”.  For examples; the child be able to draw mental map between food chain or by working group to distributed between the types of Carnivore and Herbivorous and followed by good food for those animals. The second effective strategy is visual imagery which means that “ process of forming mental pictures or idea”. Visual imagery can help learner to retain new information in long term memory by drawing that relates or explains the information. The third strategy is elaboration which “learners embellish on new information based on what they already know”. It means that elaboration likes to add something new that relate to previous knowledge and it gives more understandable to the learner to retain it in long term memory. A teacher can arrange instruction to make it more likely for children to store information in long term memory by using resources, arranging group work and discussion.
