Hi,

I am considering taking a course in international commerce arbitration at the Queen Mary college in London. It turns out that this is an online course. Today I spoke to one friend of mine and he told me that the diploma would have no meaning at all and after all I would spend some money for nothing.  At that point I don't have any experience with online courses but the idea suits me because I can't afford to spend some months in London at the time being.

On the other hand, to have a diploma which is worthless is not so funny.

My question is about the value of such diplomas for the applications. Does it make sense to take the course after all? And I really wanted to know if it is put on the dipoma itself that is was done trough distance learning?

Kind regards,

Kathrin

Is it me or is it the universe? It could be the universe but I am not sure thus I have been still wondering and drinking tea. However, the tea is getting cold.

Kathrin, intuitively (and forgive me for stating what might be viewed as the obvious) the weight of an online certificate depends on the institution issuing the certificate and whether or not the institution or certificate is recognized by the entity to which one presents the certificate. Or, am I missing somthing here?

Queen Mary is part of London University. Any diploma eqarned from one of its course will be accepted as valid. I don't think you need have any fears on this score.

Looking at its website, there is nothing that should be a problem.  And after all, the Open University is very largely done online and at a distance these days, and no one queries degrees from that source.

Thank you so much! I had the worse worriment ever since I am paying a lot of money and probably have to take a little loan for the fun in 2008.
