Hello, everyone. I am very glad to meet u here. :-)

I am searching for one(or two? if ur schedule is very tight) online english teachers to improve my spoken english--I have been stuck in it for several years.

My background:  I major in Engineering and have good basis in Reading &Writing literatures. I am good at tests(just tests!!not application!! /cry) and once got T620&Gre600/800/5 within 4 months--HOWEVER, my spoken english is very poor--as poor as u can image. At the beginning I studied En in an undeveloped area and No teacher can teach me standard pronuncation--we use the similar native words to mark under them to imitate...it is the bane of my terrible english. BUT Now I decide to correct it--getting rid of bad habit is never easy, I would rather to try and try--and Need ur help.

I need a teacher who has years experience in spoken english teaching or have certifications such as TEFL. it is better if he/she has aditional advice for my case.  MSN, Gtalk, Skype all OK. I can provide Reasonable Rate via Credit Card(I do not have Palpay). I know the Charge varies considerably...therefore it depends. We can discuss via email in detail. I am not very rich--but I would like to appreciate ur hard work as best as I can.

Please reply the post directly if u r interested. I will check everyday. Anyway, thanks for your conerning this post and best wishes for everyone!

Hi Jamie,

I am an Australian.

I have taught english in Italy for 1 year. I don't have any certificates.

For me personally, you don't need to be a qualified person to help someone learn english. The importance is that it is your mother tounge.

If you would like, I am willing to help you with your conversation.

About the payment we can talk about it later.

Looking forward to hearing from you

with

Kind regards.

Maybe you can inquire with the Bridge. I heard they have fabulous knowledgable instructors to help you with your language needs.... Smile [:)] The last time I went there, foreigners were all over the center teaching ESL and other languages. Their site is at http://bridgelanguagecenter.com

Hi Jamie,

Nice to meet you too.  First of all, your informal, written English is fine.   I am probably responding to your request too late.  I see you have already gotten some great replies.  I especially like what Anne suggested.  I agree with her  that you need to learn to "decode" natural, reduced speech.  For example, why are you never exposed to  "Ja wanna gotahthu movies?" in language classes?   I don't know, but if all you ever learn is slow, formal, "D o    y o u    w a n t    t o    g o    t o    t h e    m o v i e s ?", you won't  know what the hell people are talking about when you encounter "Ja wanna gotahthu movies?"

You need to learn natural, relaxed, "reduced" speech from the bottom up. We use "Whaddaya Say" and other texts to work on that.   You need to practice natural American rhythms (only because I am American), we use music and techniques called "Jazz Chants" to help with that, and you need to do activities and exercises that will force you to get the words out of your mouth without constantly editing and inhibiting yourself before you speak. You need lots and lots of oportunity to practice speaking informally.

It is not easy, but if you are willing to practice and take risks, you can make great progress.  But it will cost you!  ;o}

BTW, I have taught kids and adults at all levels and in many venues in five Asian countries (three times in China) and Hawaii, including University of Hawaii and others.

If you are looking for a tutor by any chance, drop me a line at  [e-mail deleted - register and include your contact information in your profile if you want others to contact you]

I am a TEFL teacher, but also an English poet.  I have made available well over 400 of my own poems with attached voice recordings to help English children and ESL students with their English.  It is a good idea to read and  listen to an English voice at the same time, copying the pronunciation of the words as you go along.  For example you may not realize that cough and off sound alike, but through and blue also sound alike.  English is a very difficult language.  First come and see the poems and try them.  They are all freely available for your use.  I have worked for two hard years to do this as a gift to both English and ESL students.  If they are good for your English (which I am sure they will be) come and say hello via my guestpage.  If you are having any more problems contact me.  You will find the poems by going to Google and writing Josie's Poetry.  I am just about to have all of these poems published in book form.  Hope this really helps you and all your friends with our very difficult language.  It's not often that you get a free gift but this is one from me.  Good luck! - Josie
