Sir,

Which part of speech has opposite.

I mean can we write opposite of noun,pronoun,verb,adverb.

Somebody has told me that grammatical words do not have opposite.

But I have read opposite like Boy=Girl(noun)

take=give(verb)
lost=found

I know many about adjectives that have opposite.My doubt about other part of speech except adjective.

Thanks.

They are referred to as antonyms. It is simply words having an opposite meaning to that of another word as you had suggested. I believe all words have antonyms to them.Smile [:)]

I disagree with Hypnopaedic that each word has an antonym.
I believe that in every part of speech there are words which have NO antonyms; let’s take adjectives: what would be an antonym to “wooden”? made of stone? cardboard? What’s the opposite of “mathematical”? is it physical or geological? We are going to have still more difficulties when we take nouns or pronouns. Try and you’ll see. Will the opposite of “their” be our or your? Do the words “time”, “word” have antonyms?
Speaking of adjectives, I remember we were taught at school that all of them were divided into three groups – qualitative, relative, and possessive. I think having antonyms is one of characteristic features of those which belong to qualitative adjectives.
With other parts of speech, although I am not informed of any suitable classification, I think each of them also includes words that do have antonyms and those that do not.

I personally believe everything has its own opposite. It's a matter of thinking outside the box than really trying to settle for a simplistic answer.

However, you are correct when it comes to grammar wise, there are a few words that don't have exact opposites, although you can substitute them with other reasonable examples, or at least that was what I taught back in elementary school.
