How would you complete this sentence?

Hot air rises while cool air ...

Is it possible descends? And what about goes down? Any other possibilities?

Thanks in advance.

There are other possibilities, but they wouldn't quite fit. I like your "goes down".  Smile [:)]

i have a question what would be he opposite of rise

It depends on what it is that is not rising. The sun? The stock price?

Sink, descend, fall, plummet, decline... it really depend on the context.

Barbara, who answers in American English. My housekeeping skills attest to the truth of the second law of thermodynamics: Left to themselves, things get more and more random!
