Intuitively, which would you say is more complex, oral syntax or written syntax?

No difference between the two.

Hi,
Here's my instinctive reaction.

'Oral' is complex, because we often begin to speak befiore we know what we are gong to say. In addition, we can't really go back and change the words we have already said.

'Written' is complex, in that we have an opportunity to think about and to create longer and more carefully constructed sentences, and to form them into intricate paragraphs.

Best wishes, Clive

So you would agree with Forbes, Clive?

Hi again,

I agree that they are both complex but I would add that the reasons are different, as I indicated.

I agree with Clive. Smile
It's difficult to compare them. Both have several aspects that make them more complex, or simpler than the other, depending on which way you look at them.
