Look guys, I'm Turkish and I'm proud of being Turkish. I've served in the army in Urfa and I have personally seen the bad things done to the local population, Kurds and Turks too. Orhan Pamuk, has made a statement that has driven a stake into the Turkish government's side. Here is Turkey doing back-flips to get into the EU and then Pamuk comes along with he's comments. Look these could be true or false that's not the real issue, the real issue is much larger and has huge implications on Turkey's future. This being "can a Turk or a foreigner make anti-governmental remarks in Turkey and not feel the arm of the law", currently the answer is no. It is wrong for a government to persecute people just because they dissagree with them.

Do I think the Turkish government is directly responsible for the genocide of 1.5 million Armenians - no. It was thanks to a few murderous Young Turks like Talat and Enver Pasa during the last days of the Ottoman Empire to run riot and forcibly kill and deport 100,000's of Armenians. The Armenians didn't help their situation by siding with Russia either but there was no excuse why that happended. If and if the last sultan has personally ordered the destruction of the Armenians and if it was government policy thats another matter but he didn't. Enver and he's Pan-Turanic extremists were to blame, but this is my opinion and just like Orhan Pamuk I have the right as a living, breathing human being to have it!

As for the Kurds, well having seen it down there personally, many Kurds have been killed and many Turks have been killed to. Lets not deny it.

We're well in to the 21st century, Turkey needs its intellectual enlightenment, this is how sophiticated societies define themselves.Through its art, literature, music, history and commerce, Turkey could be a jewel.

We will not get anywhere, when out government tells us to shut up.

I wonder why do Armenians keep on poking their noses into everything related with Turks?
They take every remark as being directed against themselves and start playing the drama queen. They still don't give me the pip, I know they have nothing to say except that genocide fishy story.

Orhan Pamuk is a great liar.He looks for fame and prestije. He have a team writing his novels. All his novels are masonic psychobable and historical hoaxes. His father is a wealthy banker. The jewish media and lobby is behind him.He reminds me anothet charlatan Salman Rushdie.

Most of the people, who like Orhan pamuk, like him just because they find what they want to find in his books about the people who is against or the people who is defending. To be frank with you, I have read much much more literary works which were remained obscure. When it comes to why his novels are very famous, there is only one answer. His creations serve a mission more than literacy and of course due to the support of people or some lobbies. There is a fact that everyone should consider, Orhan pamuk is not a historian. While hundreds of academicians and historians assert the opposite ideas of Orhan pamuk scientifically, how people can be so blind to see the truth is a one-million-dolar question to me.

Take a look at the recent news in France that is the champion of latitude of thought and human rights (!). Some historians have recently announced a decleration in France saying France should abort the alleged armenian genocide law because it prevents the historians to make  neutral and objective researches through the real history, they said. France found the famous encyclopedia Quid guilty because it wrote every detail about the alleged issue. Besides the same court had found guilty the famous historian Bernard Lewis who wrote in Le monde newspaper defending opposite position of the law after his scientific research.

While there were less than 1 million armenians all around the world during the alleged time at which the alleged genocide occurred according to orhan pamuk, how could 1 million armenians be killed and the world would be so silent that a nation was almost massacred. When we look at the genocides committed in the world so far, all of them are very obvious and have no doubt whether they were committed or not. Jewish people in Poland and some other european countries, chinese people in manchuria, algerian people in Algeria, native people in America and so on.

Does it make any sense to you?  While armenians lived under Turkish rule in peace for hundreds of years, why Turks suddenly changed their mind and killed hundreds of thousands of them. Funny...

France governed some north african countries for a few decades and every single algerian can speak french now, or in the lands once England governed almost everyone can speak english, even the official languages of some of those countries are english. You know an indian in India addresses any white man as Sir? This is because of the pressure(or whatever you call) put on those people. And most of you also know what Italy, netherlands bla bla bla did in exploited lands.(If you haven't learned the history from media you are expected to know). Turks governed three continents almost for 6 hundreds years and none of them speak Turkish at the present time or at the time they were governed. All of them were left free to live their religion and culture.

If a nation can erase the culture of another nation, it is not that nation to blame another nation who governed almost half of the world with justice for massacre.

Now please be open minded and evaluate the events scientifically through proofs. Not through TV shows or programs. As a scientist I felt free to write to show some people blinded by some environments. I hope it helps you see some facts
