I've already made my views on the Armenian genocide known, so I'm not going to go over that again (there's already a thread in the Controversial Subjects forum).  Still, I find it disturbing that so many Turks get so furious at an opinion which threatens Turkish nationalism.  How can you "hate" someone for voicing their beliefs?  While this author's opinion may be very controversial in Turkey, it's much less so around the rest of the world.  Realize that outside of Turkey, the attempted genocide of the Armenians is pretty much considered fact.  I'm not trying to convince you of something you don't want to believe, only to point out that this author's view is held by many people around the rest of the world.  Do you hate all of them as well?

as for Orhan Pamuk i think as is said he want to add his popularism to popularism.he has nothing to do with history. he is not a historician. but what is his attitude towards the matter. he said in a party to which only foreign journalists were invited (thats his hypocrisy becuse he defends the freedom of expresiion but look what he does) " i am not wanted in Turkey because i say the things no one can dare to say"

what a nonsense. everyone knows there were killed Armenians as well as Turks at that war time in hardships.but the matter is not if there were killed Armenians or not.

i deduce from his attitude he is just playing to media.

meanwhile, i have just read one book of him and actually i couldnt finish it . it was not good as i had expected. its name was Yeni Hayat.

While I don't respect his beliefs, I do respect his right to voice them.  I find the idea of someone standing trial for an opinion, no matter how controversial or offensive, simply ludicrous.
