MARY GEARIN: Morning number one and the Jakka Jakka group is already looking forward to cold showers, having used all the kindling the night before.
But light relief is soon at hand. Activities like this
chaotic bread-making session are meant to teach kids about environmentally sustainable foodstuffs.

MARY GEARIN: As day 2
dawns, the Jakka Jakka group is having much more luck with the fire.

STUDENT: We had a really good fire going yesterday, it was like the best out of everyone's, and our fire's been over the max for like 2 days, so it's like 90 degrees now.

MARY GEARIN: But a certain
oversight meant no more loitering in the showers.
Hi what is the meaning of the part in bold?

I'm guessing they use a wood fire to heat water for the showers. Day one they used all the kindling too early so they had to have cold showers

Day two - they have a lovely fire going and have hot water. But they are still not going to enjoy a nice long shower because of 'a certain oversight' - something they have forgotten to do or bring. I don't know what without reading the whole thing....perhaps the water is now TOO hot (90 degrees) or maybe there is some other reason the showers will not be pleasant.
